What will the home entertainment system of the future look like? There are a number of changes coming, among them 3-D HDTV sets that will not need glasses. Expect television manufacturers to work out the details of providing these next-generation sets within the next three or four years. Also expect the amount of 3-D content available from cable and satellite providers to increase as these TVs begin to grow in popularity.

Also, look for TVs to continue to add more internet functionality. Currently, many sets allow the viewer to access Facebook, Youtube, and a number of other websites. The ability of televisions to process an ever greater number of websites and to interact with them like a computer will increase to the point that some will use their television as their main home computer.

All these fancy, futuristic TVs will need even fancier storage media, right? Don’t count on it. Instead be on the watch for an ever-increasing amount of DVR storage. Blu-Ray recording will likely become obsolete as the storage capacity for DVRs becomes enormous. Also watch for downloadable content from cable providers and Netflix to grow exponentially to the point that DVDs and Blu-Rays vanish.

Digital television is vastly superior to analog television. It does this through converting images and sounds into digital computer data and then transmitting it. Once receiver on your television receives the digital data it is then quickly reassembled into the original picture and sound, yielding a crisp picture for the viewer.

Though it might seem like this is a longer procedure of transmission, it actually is more advantageous than the analog transmission method as it provides a better picture and sound quality. The picture isn’t disturbed or grainy and the transmission is crystal clear. This is because the digital tuner that is attached to the receiver removes any interference from the signals before it converts them back to the original sounds and images.

The capability of digital transmission to clean the interference signals results in a superior quality of picture and sound compared to the older analog method.

In addition to quality, digital television also has a user friendly interface in which the user can view the listings well in advance rather than having to flip through random channels to find out what is broadcasting and what is not.

Digital TV also has the benefit of being able to compress the transmission so that it takes less bandwidth. This means that a greater number of channels can be transmitted over the air frequency. This is great for cable operators who want to increase the number of channels as they can now do so without having to replace any cable. HDTV tends to hog bandwidth, but digital TV transmission can broadcast it regardless of the medium of transmission being used.

To get the best in sound and picture quality, along with the ability to get more channels, Digital TV method to receive and view television transmissions.
